In general, the main provisions of the project management methodology can be used to manage international projects, taking into account the following aspects: - Identification and evaluation of external facto rs influencing the choice of the project and its implementation; - decision of the organization about expansion of its activity abroad; - problems in the unfamiliar environment; - selection and training of professionals for managing international projects. Application of project management methods allows not only achieving the results of the required quality, but also saves money, time, resources, reduces the risk of projects, increases the reliability of the implementation of international projects. F or many years Ukraine was in isolation from project management as a special professional activity, so the I P M was not an independent discipline and could not significantly affect either the overall management culture or the economy as a whole. In a situation when the radical changes associated with the economy reform and the economic complex transformation , taking into account its regulation of market relations, the implementation of this large - scale program requires the attraction of signifi cant funds, but the domestic sources of development financing are very limited and are used mainly to support the economy spheres vital for the society . In this re gard, it seems ob vious that only professional methods IPM are a universal approach to solving problems rel ated to the scale and complexity of projects increas e , attracti on of a large number of participants and organizations, increas e of timing requirements for the implementation, use of financial, material and labor resources . IPM methodologies allow the performer to overcome the obstacles associated with internal and external factors common for Ukraine, such as : an unstable economy, shortages and limitations of mean s and resources, inflation, increasing comp lexity of projects, r i sing competition, social problems and requirements, and increasingly demanding consumer market, grow ing demands on the quality of work and services. According to the International Project Management Association (IPMA), the inte rnational experience of using IPM in various fields shows its effectiveness by reducing the duration of projects by an average of 20 - 30%; saving by 10 - 15% on project costs . And the to tal profit from the use of the IPM methodology, as a rule, 2 - 3 times exceeds the costs associated with their application . Purpose of the discipline: to p rovide the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the methodology of managing international projects as an effective tool for significantly improving the effec tiveness of managerial decisions. Tasks of the discipline: understanding the essence of the system approach to the international projects management and acquisition of project management skills in initiation, development and implementation of in ternation al projects in any subject area; a cquaintance with the variet y of international donors and their requirements to the projects. As a result of studying the discipline the student must know: basic theoretical, methodological and organizational foundations of project management . Be able to: apply project management methods and tools in the international activity of business or social entities : • to develop and substantiate the concept of the project; • assess the effectiveness and risks of an international project; • plan all phases of the project life cycle; • develop cost estimates and a project budget; • select performers and the team of an international project; • organize management of the project resources within the set time limits ; • apply system management tools to the time and quality of an international project; • use modern information technolog ies for the management of an international project The main learning outcomes o f the course suppose that students will obtain knowledge with regard to the: - Essence of the modern proj ect management methodology and technology , the place and role of project management in an overall system of organizational and economic knowledge; - history of development, experience and project management trends in Ukraine and in the world; - the content and structure of the project, its life cycle; - the theory of project management organization; - the main content and structure of the project management process ; - the nature and types of projects; - a typical project structure; - specificity of hard and soft projects. The expected students skills are: – defining the objectives of the project and its justification; – structuring of the project; – calculation of the budget and its drafting ; – drawing up schedules of the project impleme ntation, controlling and adjusting the project implementation plan; – project r isk management ; – effectively work with the scientific literature and information sources ; – to substantiate the decisions made; – to substantiate an own point of view, to be tolera nt during the discussion; – solve both abstract and concrete, real problem situations; – use the acquired knowledge in a real life . The result of the study of a discipline for the future professionals is : the formation of the appropriate competence for effective management of projects at the international level . 3. To facilitate students’ attainment of the objectives in Modu le, teacher engages students in the teaching and learning activities listed below. During the lectures: 1. Lectures, tutorials and presentations by teachers and other resource persons with specialized knowledge of a wide range of content areas. 2. Engag e class in research and presentations by students (individually and in groups). 3. Engage class in debates and panel discussions on topical issues, for example, organizational models, organizational changes, resistance to changes . Learners should be intro duced to the skills of decision making through class discussion, questioning and demonstrating their knowledge on issues of country analysis and business decision making basing on this information. During the practical classes: 1 . Students reflect and exp ress their thoughts and perceptions by maintenance of literature, lectures materials and repository of SSU for arguments to present their own research. 2 . Motivate students to use various tools, techniques and approaches that a professional use s at the int ernational level doing business . 3 . Evaluation Methods Current control of knowledge is carried out using the oral reports, written individual work and its presentation , interim and final knowledge assessment by each student . The practical skills of a student will be assess ed via the term paper . Evaluation is carried out by the module - rating system . Maximum amount of points is 100. Assessment and Feedback.
